JCPenney Return Policy

JCPenney makes returning or exchanging purchases simple, easy and convenient. If you need to return or exchange an item, the process is as simple as driving to the nearest JCPenney store or mailing the items to one of three JCPenney facilities; if you need to return a large purchase, call customer service to schedule a pick-up.

Items are eligible for return with or without a receipt. If you return an item with a purchase receipt, you may exchange the item or get a full refund for the purchase price. The refund will be issued to the original form of payment. When returning items with a gift receipt, they may be exchanged or refunded in the amount of the purchase price on the gift receipt. The refund will be credited to a gift card. Gift cards will be issued or exchanges will be given at the existing price for all items returned without a receipt. In addition, JCPenney requires a valid photo identification for all items returned or exchanged without a receipt.

Gift cards are the only items that are ineligible for refund, exchange or cash redemption. With JCPenney's hassle-free returns, you never have to keep unwanted merchandise.

JCP is tracking your returns by a company called (the retail equation). my jcp always has the fitting rooms closed. over the past 2 months i made 5 separate purchases. Total amount was around $300 dollars. I bought about 13 pairs of childrens jeans, 3 pants for woman and 3 shirts. I returned 90% because it didnt fit well. I had all the receipts, all clothes were unworn with tags, and i returned 2-3 weeks after purchase date. The retail equation company thinks my returns are abusive and now I am unable to return anything at jcp. Do not buy anything from JCP if you might need to return. Now i am stuck with a bunch of childrens jeans that do not fit. very unsatisfied with jcpenney

JC Penney return policy is terrible. Kohl's and Target are so much better. Tried to return items never opened and was denied. Never will shop online there again. Lost a good customer.

Do not buy a mattress from jc penny. If it needs to be returned they charge you the entire original amount plus a 15 to 20 percent restocking fee even if it is unusable. Then they exchange it during delivery, which they tell you not the other way around like it should be,then after a time they won't give you then they refund the money you've spent twice. This is asinine. I mean wtf really. DONT BUY. BEWARE.

I was told over the phone that I'll be charged $8 to get a return label. I don't see that anywhere online in the return policies. I refused and he said I can come to the store for free. Very unprofessional. I was a loyal shopper but I'll just take my money to Kohl's where the returns are easy and friendly.

Reading some of the post on here about JC Pennys I just ordered two pairs of shorts. I need to exchange them the nearest store to me is 1hour away I don't drive much or too far I'm afraid of being in another accident, so I think I will just keep them and never order from JCPenney's again I probably wouldn't get my money back anyhow seeing everyone posts that would make me furious I'll take my loss, on $32 and never order again.

Can I return an item after 60 days with a receipt ? I have had Spinal surgery and could not get to a store - there is not a store near me - probably 40 miles - so long travel was not possible. Hope you can help. Please advise.

I am upset with them. They sent me the wrong size bra. It clearly states the size I ordered on the packing slip. The bra I received is clearly marked both on the packaging and the item a different size than I ordered. They charged me shipping to send it, non-refundable. Now they want me to pay another 8$ to return it. It is costing me $17 to correct THEIR mistake. Last time I ever buy anything from Pennys.

Bought a mattress and box spring July 30..paid cash..they put it on their JC penny card and I'm MOT ABLE to get my cash back on the card or cash because I put STOP to order it took to long to RECIEVE..now they say I have WAIT over a month for ME to get CHECK mail.
Then I was told it's state law THEY have DO it this way..when all other workers I talk to OR written policy says. i can walk into STORE and get my money back . whats really going on.

Jcpennys used to be helpful and a respected place to shop. First locked me out if account after one attempt then told me I hadn't ordered anything in last 6 months. Tried to talk with a rep.and it took so long to connect me i.gave up. There isnt any store.close.by my home.anymore would have to drive at least an hour or longer to the nearest.store. absolutely pathetic the way this store is being run.

OK, actually called the customer service phone # 1-800-322-1189 instruction on site advises press 00 to get a live person which I did. After some stumbling with finding order and slight language barrier, I completed return transaction and received a mailing label. Took about 10 minutes and as stated by others there is a return fee.

After reading all of the previous feedback, I am happy to see that I am not the only one who was completely confused by their "return policy". I finally gave up and called the 1-800 phone number on the Order Summary that was included with my shipment. That number is 1-800-322-1189. I actually spoke to a live person.

I would like to point out to others that she informed me that there are 3 return centers, and where the return package is sent to depends on your address and phone number.

Good luck to others who read this feedback page. Everything you are reading here is for real. None of us could make this up.

RETURNS . RETURNS. well not from what I can find. Brought a pr of shorts ONLINE and have tried to locate a way of returning them, multiple times like 8x, via mail and lo and behold NOTHING!! Lots of words on your policy but nothing that makes returns as easy as purchasing online. That said I guess you have lost another customer, to bad your products are good.

I purchased 4 items for my son for his Birthday. I live in no-mans-land, so no stores even close. I must shop online. I found some good clearance items, but the time I paid for shipping and handling, I really did not save anything. Now, I have to return all the items, because they are not what the items picture showed. The return fee is $8.00. I will be shopping locally from now on. I live in Michigan and my Son lives in Colorado, so perhaps he could have exchanged them, but he would not do so. My leave with this is: Shop where you can see item in person and always try on at the store. OH, lastly I read there is a 15% restocking fee also. OUTRAGEOUS.

It's really annoying that you have to pay $8.00 to return the item after you've already paid $8.95 when you purchased the item. I'd rather pay for the return myself. My item cost $8.44, and after deducting the $8.00 for the return label my credit is only 44 cents. Ridiculous!

Yup I made the mistake of assuming that JC Penny would do the right thing. When I shop online I shop for me, my husband and my three grand kids. I returned an order of over $400 dollars this past winter via mail. Never had a problem with any other store so I assumed JC Penny would be no different. Now it turns out the my credit card was never credited. it's been so long I'm out of the money. I love their their clothing but unless they improve their return policy, I'm done shopping at JC Penny.

I have ordered curtains over the years from Penny's and have always loved the quality. This time around I was stunned when what looked like they could be used as dish rags were part of my order. They were supposed to be white but were a dingy gray, no hem at all to speak of just raveled edging that was poorly done, as though by a child somewhere. I was astonished at the lack of quality, now I am searching for how to return them. Just awful.

I have been trying to get a refund on a canceled order for almost two months. Customer Care referred me to the local store. The local store referred me back to Customer Care ("we don't have access to refund information"). Customer Care then told me, on 5/20/21 that it had been waiting for approval but they would escalate it. I received an email from them today (6/7) stating they'll be happy to research this, and that I should call the local store. I'm spending a lot of time and aggravation trying to get my $34.61 back.

I guess I am done forever shopping at my favorite store JCP.. All my local store have closed so its not like i can try on before I buy. I took a guess at a size knowing I could exchange if it wasn't right. Surprise ! Not only did I have to pay $8.95 to get them now I have to pay shipping to return them . And then another $8.95 to order a new size . No wonder JCP went under and now with so few stores to go to (65 miles away !)people are stuck with these new shipping policies?? Customers are done with JCP . me included. SAD. JCP was mt FAVORITE store

4/24/2921 I called JC Penny customer care for a return label, the person I talked to was hard to understand and said he could not send me a return label. All the JC Penny stores close to me are closed, so cannot go there. How am I suppose to return my item. You adversities easy return. Not so. Please help

I've had to make a couple of returns from an online purchase, I've taken them both to the store and they have not returned the shipping and handling on any of them, I didn't know the will not returned it, not a good policy, very disappointed since I have made many returns from other similar Dept stores and they have always returned the S&H. I'll try to preferably keep online shopping at the other stores just in case I have to make any returns. :( Bummer!

Bought my mother a pair of earrings she saw in the JC Penney ad. They were $1,000 original price and on sale for $250 before Christmas. They shipped me a pair and one earring had a broken clasp so it wouldn't secure. I took the earrings into the store to exchange and they told me that since the sale was over, I would be charged the $1,000 price to exchange the earrings! I told them it was their fault the sent me a defective product anyway. Eventually after speaking with the manager they agreed to exchange for me. What a ridiculous policy that they could no longer honor the original price on a defective product.

Bad customer service they don't know what they doing and very lazy, the product was been return 10days ago since the product they send was damaged and defective for $120 of fake faded jewelry they sell, the stone was missing and instead it's rose gold it was dark bronze, it don't even look like cost $5 compare the price that was paid, I talk customer service today and says they don't know how to issue refund and track the item that we return thru UPS and other customer service says not in the system that it was return, so really they don't know what they doing till have to look for manager that hopefully know how to do. we are still waiting to get refund and she says 3 to 5 days after 10days we been waiting another 5 days. DO NOT BUY ANY JEWELRY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY FAKE AND CHEAP PRODUCT BUT THEY COST A LOT

Purchased a knife set for $146 and planned on picking it up until I got sick. Since I didn't pick up, I assumed that JCP would cancel the order and credit the funds back to my PayPal account. That didn't happen, they mailed me a gift card in the amount. I've had many credit returned to my PayPal account over the years and I don't know why JCP would be the exception.

Went to the JCPenney in Savannah Ga to return a gift that had been sent to my husband that did not fit. As I did not have the receipt, I expected a gift card for the lowest price. However, upon trying to return the gift, I was told I would need to give them the phone number of the person who bought the gift as well as what store they bought it from. I didn't have that information, so they refused to accept my return. I showed them their own posted return policies that are listed all over their store which mentions none of this. I will be suggesting to my friends and family that they should no longer send things from your store.

I will never order from jcpenney again, I order a pair of boots from them, open the box and there was only one boot in the box, customer service wasn't any help, wanted me to take the boot all the way to the mall to return IT, no store or online has my size, how about telling the warehouse to fine the other boot, this make the second time I've had a bad experience with jcpenney, want get a third time.

We recently ordered 4 panels of curtains on line and the order was accepted and confirmed. 2 days later we received an email saying they could not fill the order (no reason giving) and they will credit the card.I thought the order was canceled. One week later 3 panels were delivered to our home . Why would they send an incomplete order ,now I have to return 3 curtain panels of which I did not order by taking it back to Pennys which I do not want to do because of COVID. I ordered 4 panels because I need 4 panels not 3. Thanks but no thanks.

I read a lot of bad reviews about JCP customer service but I have to say my experience was just fine. I called about returning a pair of jeans that were too big and the guy told me where I could sent them. It was simple and painless. I just hope I get the refund.lol

I will never order from Jcpenney again! It's sad because almost half of the things in my house or from there and it wasn't always like this. People need to voice their opinions to get this to change and corporate needs to know but I truly suspect that they will be closing.

You should try using chat sometime. I am not sure how to get in it except to say that you hit
Reply where you received the notice saying they got your order and it'll pop up. Guess what their job is? To avoid doing anything at all cost and then they sit there and laugh at you. They truly think it's funny and try to find anyway they can to get out of helping you from disconnecting to saying "you're having a difficult time" or "call back later." It's a total joke and these people are making money.

I placed a substantial order and stated that they had already been shipped and a month later I don't have them. in the meantime the price dropped but even though the order just arrived they won't honor their price match guarantee Of 14 days because the order was placed longer ago.

If you place an order beware make sure to check because the prices to go down during their clearance. I truly think that at this point the employees at JCP think it's a joke too!

I went to Sephora inside JCPenny Store. I bought 3 gift cards at $100.00 each. When I came home, I found out that it was written at the back of the card it can not be used to buy at the Sephora store or Sephora online. The cards can only be used at JCPenny. The next day, I went back to JCPenney and explained that I bought the card by mistake. The manager refused to accept the cards. This is not a fair policy for JCPenney not to accept the card back.

Received my order from JCP via UPS. Label on package was addresses to me correctly, however the contents and invoice was for someone else in SC. Called JCP and told them about the mix up and was told they were going to send me a UPS label, and they wanted me to tape the package back up, print the label and return to closest UPS facility. What? I told them no, I wasn't going to take their mistake back to UPS. I told them to call UPS and have them to return and pick it up, customer service told me "ok, but you need to print the label." Nope, not today, I told the young lady to have UPS print it and bring it with them during the pickup.

Customer service then tells me "ok, have a nice evening." I said wait, what about my missing items, and she replied "what about it? I explained to her once again that I did not receive my items, and had no idea where they were. By this time I didn't care and told her refund my money to my MC, I no longer wanted the items. She told me she credited my account and should see it in about 5-7 business days, however, it does not show on my online account. If not reversed I will have MC reverse the charges.

I'm done with JCP.

Very exasperated. no invoice included. Shirts for husband were too small / made in China. Had to print email that had order number and products on it too enclose in the return package. Finally found address to return package too. Looked up customer service phone number. was on hold for 25 min. Still didn't get to talk to anyone. I tried to give them my business, will not try again.

Bought something in MAY within two days got a message saying it was out of stock yet the item still showed on the site. Since MAY I've been getting the run around to get a refund. It's either I will get a check in the mail or they will issue the money back on the card. Several call attempts and they will hang up on me. It's now AUGUST and nothing. I will never set foot in a JCP or their website every again! Beyond ridiculous

I ordered 2 dresses from JCP online. They did not fit, so I returned them to the store on the first business day since receiving the package. I knew that I would not be refunded the cost of shipping. However, I was not given back the purchase price! In addition to the shipping and handling, I was out $29.00. I will NEVER buy from JCP again! This is very poor business practice. I send an email to customer service, but did not receive a reply. It's no wonder they are in poor financial condition.

I too need to return items I ordered online. I called JCP told them there was no return receipt with my invoice and was told to use the return address on the invoice in the upper left hand corner. Since I'm from WI, the facility I that applies for me is in Columbus OH. I asked the JCP rep if possible to get a return postage paid label, but no luck, I'll have to pay the postage myself. Don't understand why they don't include he return info with the invoice, as it looks as though there was one but it was removed. No more brick and mortar stores. What used to be one of my favorite department stores is now just limping along and going the way of the dinosaur. if only merchants would understand that customer service is the MOST important part of their business.

I refusd to pay my JCP bill as they should have refunded that long ago. Slos service I can understand but thus is beyond bad.

On March 7, 2020, I had purchased, at JCP store, a dress and under garments, for a wedding. I got them home and the dress was perfect but the bra and "spanx",which I bought in my size, were too small. Then the stores closed due to Covid 19. I saw, on line, that JCP had extended time frames for returns. I waited to return items to store. Finally, I decided to return items by mail instead, on 6/5/2020. I enclosed all required information and paid postage fee of $5.40. I mailed it to JCP.COM Facility, 5555 Scarborough Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43232, which is 1 of 3 facilities to process returns by mail. I tracked the receipt which stated it was received 6/8/2020 by an individual at facility. As, of 7/3/2020, I still do not have my refund. Because, this JCP Facility was opened for business and received the package, I feel more than enough time has passed to get this refunded to my account.

Made an online order for a pair of shoes for my daughter and they are too small. Mind you that I have made several online purchases and no problem with returns. So I want to return the shoes and the return instructions clearly say on both my receipt and on the site that you can go to any JCPenney store for return. this is not true! I went to the store in largo Maryland and they denied my transactions because they don't refund online orders. Go figure! my suggestion to you is to go the website or call the store (can be frustrating because no one really answers the phone) to make sure the store near you do online returns. JCPenney has been closed long enough to update this info to the public on its site or even when placing your online order. This is not good customer service, at all! Maybe that's why they are closing. I rode all they way here to discover that. Disappointed and wasted gas. SMH!

All I can say is, HORRIBLE!I have tried on multiple occasions to contact someone, ANYONE at JCPENNEY to help me to return an order. I have been put on hold from 19 minutes all the way to 50 minutes only to be disconnected after the ridiculous wait. What on earth is going on with them? So, what are all of us supposed to do?
After reading other reviews about not getting refunded, I think I will just give this order away to someone who can use the items.
I have to wonder if they are even reading these comments. Probably not!

I ordered clothing. Two of the items were unwearable. One is a pair of jeggings that stink like formaldehyde and fit very poorly and the other is a shirt with sleeves sewn so small I could not get it on, let alone wear it. (I bought two of the same shirt in different colors and the other color fits just fine.)

The returns page says you have to fill out the "returns and exchanges" part or the invoice. There was no regular paper invoice in the bag, just a thermal label packing slip. This is true of the order I placed before this one as well. No paper invoice, just a thermal packing slip.

Also, this order cannot be accessed on line. It keeps going to an error page. When I call the customer service phone number, the automated system recognizes the order, but customer service is either a auto attendant that says wait for 40 minutes for an agent or that they are closed.

MULTIPLE emails to JCP customer service have only gotten one useful thing: the address to send returns. They also insist you have to fill out the back of the invoice. They refuse to offer any help with the website problem, or acknowledge that there is no such section on the packing list in the shipment. I cannot take this back to the store at this time due to the pandemic and even if I could, I am concerned the store would not be able to locate the order given the web page error.

I am not sure what my next course of action will be. Since I paid by credit card, a call to the bank is in order. I have been trying to resolve this for nearly a month. I definitely feel ripped off and that JCP customer service is purposely being difficult rather than helping me return their substandard products for a fair refund. Obviously, I will not be ordering from JCP again.

I placed an order for two mattresses, no one called me to schedule delivery, when I went to check order status, it said the couldn't find the order. My money returned into my account. So I called them and they said the order was still active, I thought something was fishy so I cancelled the order as it was not going to be delivered for a couple more weeks. That was Friday 5.29. Today they took the $730 out of my account, and the order status says shipped when you call on the phone but the order on the website says can't be found. Waited on the phone for 75 minutes and got disconnected, then called back and set up for a call back in 35 minutes and it has been an hour. WTH

I drove to the store yesterday afternoon to return 4 pairs of slacks I purchased for hubby back in March, just before the shutdown. I had my receipt. I ordered items from JC Penny and they were to large. I waited to send items back waiting for store to open. No luck so I mailed items back cost me $10.55 to do so. They received items on April the 27th at 9:43 am.today it is may 12th and I had to call the bank where the card was approved to have them connect me to a customer service rep. in returns. She said it showed my items had not been credited to my account yet (surprise)
She stated it takes 3 weeks and for me to call back the 18th of May.
I sent them back gave her the tracking number which she wanted. I have a feeling i will not be seeing a credit to my account ever. I sent back over $100.00 of clothes and thought that the store knew what they were doing . Surprised to find they have no idea.I think since they are going bankrupt they will be giving no credits back to anyone.I have never had problems with them before but this takes the cake.

It's like they want to go out of business. I just hope I will get a chance

JCP is handling returns so poorly. I had items to return from 3 different orders. I called JCP to request a return label. They DO NOT provide them. Since the store is closed, I was instructed to mail them back, and was told I had to ship each order back individually, or I would probably not receive my refund. Also, I was told NOT to use the return address listed on their website. You have to ship your items back to the address on the receipt, as items MUST go back to the distribution center they were shipped from, or guess what, NO REFUND! I was also told to allow 6 to 8 weeks for my refund! That's crazy! Long story short, it cost me $45 at UPS to mail back 3 orders totaling $240 dollars. Used to be a devoted JCP customer,. GOODBYE FOREVER JCP!!

I purchased 3 prom dresses in the store. The stores all closed. Contacted on line. com and was told I had to return them to the store. I received a bill. Called Penneys Credit card company and explained that I was waiting for the stores to open and I was returning them. Told I needed to make the required payment which I did. Now I received another bill with interest charges and another required payment due. This is wrong. We should not be required to pay when we notify them we are returning items and we should not be charged interest. This is not right. Are we going to be able to return curbside ?

I too placed an on line order. trying to help the economy. but need to do a return. I was able to find the return information that I would have to mail my return to one of 3 addresses with the shopping invoice. Not as convenient as most other on line returns I have done. My concern is that I would have to go to the post office or a UPS store to then send as I have no clue what postage to put on my package, even if I have enough stamps - and I am staying home because of the Covid crisis - I live in a high outbreak area. Why isn't JCP processing a return shipping label and then deducting the postage (or UPS charge) from my refund. Come on JCP. this would help your sales immensely if you made the shopping experience like most others!

I have done some research and found this regarding the JC Penney return policy:
JCP has a "flexible return policy" meaning here is no time limit on returns on MOST merchandise. When stores reopen you can return your items at any time.

SOME items are excluded from this policy such as Sephora, Fine Jewelery, Furniture etc. These items can be returned within 30 days after stores reopen.

I was informed I have to pay return fees or wait until a store opens. I did not receive an invoice or return information in my package but located these return addresses on their website. All companies are having a difficult time during this crisis. I love JCP and pray they are able to re-open once this is over unlike other major department stores that are having to file bankruptcy. Give them a little slack during this crisis I am sure they are very short staffed which is why they do not answer the phones. I emailed them and had a response within 24 hours.

I will warn people about ordering from J.C. Penny. My guess is they probably won't even reopen when the COVID crisis calms down. I'm having the same issues as other customers. Right before the shutdown, I purchased several orders of clothing online for a wedding (which has since been cancelled). I tried calling Customer Service but it is impossible to get through. I'm going to have to pay to return these items since your stores are closed. It says that refunds on purchases made through Paypal are done via checks mailed to my home address. This is antiquated. You need to be more competitive with other retailers. I'm not sure I will shop at JCPenney again if it's this hard to return stuff online.

Thought they would email a free return shipping label. NO. They don't do that. Even though it's common among the competition.

The explanation was that I can return to store, when it reopens. This doesn't get me a refund now, however.

JCP, your policy is not helpful.

I'll never order anything again from JCP online again. I can't believe they dont have free returns. My bad. I didnt even think to check that since most major retailers do. Their web backend process is also a mess. When I go to my account page and check orders, it says I havent placed any orders in 6 months when I received a shipment a few days ago. I called customer service and was on hold for an hour and when the call was transferred to a person, the call was "disconnected." So I sent multiple emails to the support group and the response I got was that I had put in the wrong order number (I was on my own account page which I had explained in the email so the response from the agent was nonsensical). I realize they just furloughed a bunch of people but you still need to support existing business. The nearest store is an hour and a half away and is closed due to coronavirus. They need to offer free returns.

I canceled my JcPenny credit card after a bad shipping experience on three furniture pieces. They were to deliver item to room of choice. Set up item. Take away extra packaging. And allow me to review terms and procedures of the delivery paper before leaving. Instead they: Delivered furniture piece at door. Let it sit for days outside because i was out of town told them so to. Delivery drivers had a bad attitude and threw a tantrum about it. They dinged my walls a couple times moving the item inside. They refused to put shoe protectors on and left a horrid mess through out my house. They made me sign the paper rather than let me read it through. I had several delivery issues with JcPenny over the years. In a condo unit clearly labeled they still only delivered my packages to the wrong house hold. They told me wait three days before shipping it out again. I did all they asked and they still acted like jerks before sending out a replacement.

I sent back wrong sized clothes ups and it cost me 20 dollars to send back 60 dollars worth of clothes. My guess is jc will screw up the refund. I think it is time to say goodby to jc after 42 years as a customer.

You need to do your part to help your customers during this time. Free shipping for returns should be available to us since no stores have been opened and won't be anytime soon, or extend the time we have to return in store.

The previous post has not been answered about returning if stores are closed. It does not look like any questions are answered on this site. That is a poor customer service standard especially since the customer service number is backed up as well. It is understandable with the virus pandemic but it would service customers better to put a simple statement about virus related policy.

How can I return an Item that I purchased on line when there was not shipping information on it. It said to return call or return to store. Well the stores are closed. All the items have the bag they were shipped in but I do not have receipts on some. Crazy way to do business. I just need to know if I keep them until the stores open will you take them back. I made an in-store purchase and tried to make an in-store exchange within the allotted time frame, but was denied. How do I resolve this issue? It's a small appliance, I have my receipt, with-in 45 days and I was told they would not accept my return. They referred me to online support. I didn't purchase this online, so why am I contacting online support? Lesson learned. I need to minimize my shopping at this store.

Made an order on the website, much was available for same-day pickup. 2 items were not and the shipping was twice as much as the items I was purchasing. I immediately called to have that part of the order canceled and was on hold for 20 mins only to be given an automated recording that I would be called back in another 20 mins. By the time I finally got a hold of a human I was told that I was not able to cancel that order and I would not be reimbursed for the shipping fees . they said there is a 30 minute grace period to cancel orders of that I waited on hold to try to do. RI OFF. I am going to cut up my pennys platinum card and never deal with them again if this is not corrected when I go to the store to pick up the rest of my order. I am very disappointed by the way I was spoken to by the phone rep and that they were not willing to attempt to try to help me in any way. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the way this was handled and after shopping there or years it has really left a bad impression on how the store has been going downhill with their customer service.

So I bought someone a pair of 501 Levi's but got the wrong size. I typically pay with my Platinum JC Penny card but I'm maxed out so I paid cash. I couldn't find my receipt however all tags remained on the jeans, they weren't even tried on. I'd like to add I'm in this store no less than monthly and most employees know me by name. I tried to exchange the pants yesterday and was told that I couldn't. He looked it up and couldn't find it as he wouldn't since I paid cash. I don't understand, I've returned items before without issue.

So evidently if you receive a gift from J.C. Penny in Selma Ca. you cannot exchange it for a different size without a receipt, even with all tags on with Penny's name on the tags. I will think twice about shopping there if I am buying gifts for people. Sometimes receipts get lost. I would think you would be able to exchange for exactly the same thing in a different size if it is a gift. The return policy online says something completely different. When I brought in a copy of the policy, they told me every store is different. Seriously?

Ordered matching family pajamas for my entire family November 9th, received an email November 14th stating that my items have shipped. After several weeks of not receiving anything, I emailed JCP on November 26th to find out the status of my order. received just a general email stating that the order has been shipped. So after a week of continued checking online tracking the order delivery date kept being extended. I emailed JCP again because me and my family would be traveling for the holidays and was hoping to have our pajamas before then. I mentioned all this to JCP over email and the phone and they kept promising that the order is on the way. Another week past and still nothing, I reached out to JCP again by email, then by phone to finally be told that I could cancelled my order. Needless to say I was livid at this time because the matching pajamas is a tradition of my family and to think I now have to go through this order process all again for 15 family member so close to the holidays. Being so frustrated I kept asking what was the problem with the order, finally was told that after the shipping information was sent to me it was realized that some of the sizes I ordered weren't available because of high volume of order on the website. I asked why was this initially communicated to me or why wasn't my order automatically canceled in this case. They couldn't explained. I asked if I could simply swap for a different style matching pajamas being that they have already charged my credit card. I was told that I had to cancel the order and reorder, so I opt to do so and was told that they were receiving an error message trying to return my funds to my credit card. I provided them with 2 additional credit cards as an alternative and they so claimed the same error messages. My bank and credit card company could not understand why they were receiving an error message and asked for a report to see the issue. They could not provide me with a report showing the error message. They offered to send me a check, and told me I would received it in about 3 business days, this was December 20th. To-date no check received, emailed them today and just received an email stating that I should wait 14 business days for the check to be processed and then mailed. I'm just so done with this company at this point, I'm ready to seek an attorney to sue them! Needless to say they ruin my family tradition of matching pajamas for the holiday, and caused me additional $ in long distance charges, having to call them while we were traveling. Now on top of everything its a hassle getting my funds returned to me.

SO I bought a formal pants here, I was surprised to find my size (because usually i would not as I am small petite and 28 yr old) and that is the only pant, I felt sketchy somehow but did not figure out it turns out something like this. I trialed these pants, and it was a great fit so I didn't think about price and bought it for $50, bag it home. Then there it starts! I took off all the tags and labels and I started wearing it to my work.. And I realized the pants started twisting. I thought it was my leg! But when I put that pair together I found that it was a MANUFACTURING DEFECT!! This store needs to be SUED, seriously!! for selling defective items for the original price. I cannot put it in words how mad I am writing this feedback!

JCPenny store exchange/return policy is a joke! My daughter received a shirt and a pair of pants as a gift so we didn't have a receipt. The clothing was purchased as a children's size and she wears juniors so we were just wanting to get a larger size. We were also going to buy another outfit for her, the difference was about $45. Instead they told us of their policy and gave us $9 credit! The tags on the clothes we were returning totaled around $45 and they gave us $9 credit! So instead of us paying the difference on the exchange which should have been around $10 plus the $45 we were going to spend we left all but one shirt on the counter and paid the $5 difference (mind you we brought in a pair of jeans and a shirt with the tags still on them and left with a shirt that was marked $14 and $5 less in my wallet)! With this kind of greed and lack of respect for the customer I'll be glad to see them go out of business.

What phone number do I call for a return? I'm probably not going to return my purcase of a men's bathrobe after I read all the complaints how everyone is getting off. I do hope the store closes as more and more customers are not shopping there anymore including me. We'll just wait and see what happens and how long it takes. Hopefully very soon and not soon enough. There are many stores and online places to shop at. So continue with the complains as they help in the process of J.C. Penny closing. I will now call the number or contact that you recommend. I called JCPenny to ask a question about a return. I waited 15 min and then received a message saying that it would be 45 min and that I could request a call back. I requested a call back and about 10 min, they called me back, but then have left me on hold for 1 HR. I have no idea if a human will actually pick up the phone. The item I bought looks nothing like the online picture and I was trying to avoid an hour drive to return, but guess I have already wasted that amount of tie and more. Last item I ever buy from this store.

I tried to order a robe online and have it sent to some one else. It came to me instead after it had their name on it. So, I tried again and the same thing happened. They said I couldn't cancel the orders immediately before processing, that I would have to receive them, THEN send them back. They came and not a happy camper. I read all of the negative comments and it's no wonder Penney's is in trouble.

I ordered a pair of Nike on line for $50 for in store pick up 3 weeks ago now there is no record of the order but the money is gone from my gift card
